"There's no place like home."

It was my birthday on Sunday....19! Such a horrible number....such a horrible odd number.

I almost forgot about my hatred of odd numbers until I rip open each card to be faced with "Happy 19th Birthday!"

I never felt this way on any other birthday that made my age odd. 19 just stands out to me as....well....horrible.

Besides the anxiety towards odd numbers, it was a very good day.

Showing some friends from uni around Stamford was....interesting.

They were so amazed by all the fields and old buildings (yawn).

Most of them haven't really seen the countryside and Stamford does a great job at presenting most countryside traits....fields, sheep, cows, fields, pigs, tractors, fields, back roads, vast amounts of grass, horses, fields, fields and more fields.

I was a bit nervous about their visit at first, I've spend all five months of uni so far, trying to fight them mocking me and attempting to convince them that I am NOT a posh farmer. That I do not live in the middle of nowhere, in my own little world, surrounded by farms and farm animals, stereotypically walking around wearing hunters and a gilet whilst walking my dog or riding a horse or even driving a tractor!

They have no idea!

It didn't help my cause that on the way back from picking them up from the train station, we got stuck behind a tractor, passed about 10 thousand fields and having Mum announce that my uncle Peter had bought round half a pig for us after it being freshly killed. Lovely. Cheers Mum.

I've been back in Stamford for almost a week now and I think I'm getting too used to being looked after by my Mum. I'm not going to know what has hit me when I get back to LE1.

I also don't know how I'm going to cope without Mable being my side 24/7. My dopey little mongrel seems so follow me everywhere when I'm home.

Cuppa tea o'clock again.
H.
